Be sure to check out “Eagles Super Bowl Champions” a song written by our own UFCW Local 1360 Member Darryl Rivers from Ravitz Shop Rite. The song was written on January 23, just 12 days before the Eagles won the Super Bowl. The song was played in Ravitz Shoprite and PriceRite leading up to the Super Bowl. Darryl had full confidence in the Eagles and wanted to create a song that would not only commemorate the victory but also hype up the fans for many years!

Each spring, the United States House of Representatives sponsor a nation-wide high school arts competition called “The Artistic Discovery Contest.”
This competition is a wonderful way to encourage national artistic talent, and allows us to high light local talent in New Jersey’s 1st Congressional District.
The contest is open to all high school students residing in the 1st District. The District’s overall winner will have his or her artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol for a year. The exhibit in Washington will contain artwork from contest winners across the country.

The New Jersey State AFL-CIO runs the most successful Labor Candidates Program in the country. Since its inception, 968 union members have been elected to offices as diverse as U.S. Congress, state Senate and Assembly, on County Freeholder Boards, in our towns as Mayors, Aldermen, Committee and Council Members, Fire Commissioners and on School Boards across the state. These victories have made life better for all working people in New Jersey by advancing pro-worker causes at every level of government.
None of this would be possible without the Labor Candidates School. This program allows our members to learn from election experts the skills necessary to win a campaign. Skills such as fundraising, research, message development, public speaking, media relations, voter contact, volunteer recruitment, targeting, social media outreach, and get-out-the-vote efforts are invaluable for both incumbent and first-time candidates. The 2018 Labor Candidates School will be held:
Saturday, August 11 & Sunday, August 12, 2018
Rutgers University Continuing Studies Conference Center
Pursuant to the New Jersey State AFL-CIO Labor Candidates Resolution, union members seeking election to public office must secure the support of their local union’s presiding officer who shall then notify the Central Labor Council and the New Jersey State AFL-CIO. All non-incumbent labor candidates are required to graduate from the Labor Candidates School and be reviewed by the Central Labor Council before resources can be earmarked for their election campaign. Each union member seeking election or re-election to public office must complete the Labor Candidates Survey and return it by fax to (609) 989-8734or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We look forward to achieving many more labor candidate’s election successes together.
